Last day in Costa Rica

Image
Hi guys! So I know it has been a long while since I wrote on here but I have been so busy. I figured it was about time to let you guys know how my last day was in this beautiful town of Costa Rica. So once again we had to wake up super early to start our day. We decided that morning that we wanted to do the horseback riding tour, so we headed down to their tiny stables across the street from the resort. After signing some waivers and getting our gear on, helmets, etc. We headed out on a trail that had a perfect view of Arenal Volcano. As we headed down different trails the surroundings were beautiful. The first time the instructor whistled for the horses to go faster was so exhilarating. As soon as we stopped everyone was laughing at each other. I think I was crying I was laughing so hard, mostly at my husband. It was funny seeing his reaction to riding a horse that fast. In fact, I don't think he has ever ridden a horse in his life, it was quite the scene. After a few more stop...

Day 2 in Costa Rica

Day 2 in Costa Rica started off about the same. We woke up at 6 a.m. and headed down to eat breakfast for the day. We had to leave pretty early because my husband had a whole day set out for us to enjoy. We had chosen to go to Mistico Park, which is a nature reserve on the west side of the volcano past Lake Arenal. On this side you had a more view of lava rocks because this the side where all the lava flow came down. On a side note we are so glad that we chose to rent a car. There is no way we would have been able to do all the things we did if we had to call for a taxi or take a bus everywhere we wanted to go. We chose a combo package to do the Nature History Walk and Spider Monkey Canyon. The total cost of the package was $240. We arrived at Mistico park at 8 a.m. and started our tour of 16 hanging bridges and nature walk tour at 8:30 a.m. Our tour guides name was Marvin. He was super friendly and was very knowledgeable about all the nature we saw along the way. We l...

Day 1 in Costa Rica

Day 1 in Costa Rica was truly amazing. We woke up pretty early and headed down to eat some breakfast. It was an hour behind, so since we were used to waking up at 7 a.m. back at home, we got up at 6 a.m. We took a short walk down to the resorts restaurant. Since breakfast was included in our stay, that was definitely a plus. It was buffet style, so I thought for sure I would go back up a few times. But no, rice and beans fill you up quickly. And they give you great energy. By the way, the food was amazing. The rice and beans came with a yogurt type sauce, I would never imagine it to be so good, but it was delicious. They also had the softest, sweetest plantains I have ever had. I had tasted plantains before, but these were amazing. They did serve coffee, but that is one thing I was picky on, I needed cream. I have tried multiple times to drink my coffee black, even with sugar, but it's terrible to me. So I just stuck with orange juice. It was rainy out, all morning, with rando...

Traveling to Costa Rica

Image
Thursday morning, March 9th, 2017, we get up at 4 a.m. We hadn't had much sleep the night before because of our adventures in Atlanta the night before. So we took a shuttle to the airport from our hotel and were signing in with the Kiosk by 5:15 a.m. Right on track! We had previously chosen Spirit Airlines to travel to Costa Rica because they were the cheapest by at least a couple hundred dollars. The downside was, you had to pay $50 a piece for carry-on luggage!! How is that even possible? I have flown on different airlines throughout my whole life and never had to pay extra to bring carry-on luggage on the flight. But we paid the fee and moved on.  We thought for sure 2.5 hours would barely be enough with all the people running around in the airport that morning. But we got through security, found our gate right away and took a underground shuttle to our terminal. We had enough time to get breakfast, that made me happy! We got to our gate with still an hour to spare. Yay! Now was...

On my way to Costa Rica

On March 9th, 2017 me and my husband finally decided to take our long awaited honeymoon. We have two babies, one is 3 and the other is 1, and lots of our vacations have had to be put on hold because of these sweet babies. So we figured it was about time. We flew out of Atlanta, Georgia airport and our flight was supposed to leave at 7:55 am. Since Atlanta is such a huge airport we decided to try and arrive 2.5 hours before our scheduled flight time, which would put us being there at 5:30 am. That's freaking early! Right? Especially when you have a 3.5 hour drive time to get to the airport. That would of put us leaving our home at 2 am! NO! I wasn't going to do it...I talked my husband into leaving the night before and staying at a hotel in Atlanta. I then proceeded into talking him into taking me to the Westin on Peachtree so we could look at all the city lights from atop this 73 floor building overlooking Atlanta. So we were off at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. I was glad to be spendin...
